Cottage pie



  1. 400g minced beef
  2. 1 onion chopped
  3. 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
  4. 1dsp Worcestershire  sauce
  5. 1tsp paprika
  6. 1tsp mixed herbs
  7. Gravy granules

For the mash

  1. 5 -6 potatoes pealed and chopped
  2. Milk and butter
  3. Grate cheese



  1. Put the potatoes on to boil with a little salt. Put some oil into a large pan on a medium  heat. Then add the onion cook for 4  minutes or until soft
  2. Add the beef and cook until all the beef is coloured
  3. Then add the paprika and mixed herbs, stir in and cook for another 2 minutes
  4. Then add the tomatoes and cook for about 5 minutes
  5. At this stage add some gravy granules enough to thicken the sauce
  6. At this stage transfer this into a casserole  dish and leave to cool
  7. Mash the potatoes with some milk and butter the gentle folk over the mince
  8. Grate cheese over the top enough to cover the mash
  9. Place into a pre heated oven at 180 for about30 minutes  or until the top has browned
